Construction Manager – Facades

Laing O’Rourke is currently recruiting for a Façade Construction Manager to work on >£200m signature architecture scheme in central Oxford. This will involve the management of all elements of façade, roof and feature atrium/dome with total package value greater than £20m.

You will be directly responsible for management and delivery of safety, programme and quality aspects, reporting directly into the Project Leader.

Oxford Humanities is the largest Passive House certified construction project in the country with high focus on technical and architectural excellence.

The new building will bring nine faculties and institutes and seven libraries and collections into one home, with sustainable, flexible, accessible spaces for graduate postgrad and post doc learning, research and experimentation. Performance and public engagement space forms a key element of the project, with a 500-seat concert hall designed with world-leading acoustic capability, a 250-seat theatre and a film screening area. It will form the centrepiece of the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter (ROQ), and will be surrounded by inviting landscaped space, connecting the wider community throughout.

A Facade construction manager with a proven track record in successful delivery of façade work packages on major projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and coordination of external envelope packages, including coordination with interfacing works packages
  • Management of Specialist Sub-contractors and Supply Chain partners.
  • Logistics management and coordination
  • Monitor and control procurement and off-site manufacturing activities
  • Ensuring all health and safety requirements are maintained
  • Ensuring all quality and environmental requirements are maintained
  • Compliance with Laing O’Rourke Minimum Requirements (LMRs)
  • Regular review and inspection of subcontract works to ensure technical compliance
  • Chairing regular work package progress meetings
  • Production of regular reports to senior management on performance, progress and programme
  • Management and development of Façade Works Package Managers

Qualifications / Experience

  • Eng or BSc Degree, or NVQ 6, or higher (Construction Management)
  • Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) or higher, or Society of Façade Engineering (MSFE) or higher
  • CWCT Managing the Cladding Package course
  • CWCT Curtain walling design and construction course
  • CWCT Built up walls: Construction and specification course
  • IOSH and Supervisor training.
  • Experience of various forms of contract
  • 8 years of experience (ideal)

Gateman/ Skilled Labourer needed in Oxford

Daniel Owen LTD are looking for a gateman / skilled labourer to work on an office refurbishment job just in the outskirts of the centre of Oxford.

The role itself will need to be filled by someone who is very experienced on site and feels comfortable being the face of the project.

The skilled labourer will be positioned on the groundfloor of an office block and will be responsible for taking in deliveries and communicating with the drivers. Following this, the labourer will need to load the deliveries into the lift and send them upstairs where another labourer will be offload them.

We are looking for someone who is well spoken, confident in their ability and feels comfortable speaking with external delivery companies.

Since the project has just started, this is a brilliant opportunity for anyone looking for long term work.

The site itself is accessible via public transport and has shops nearby. We also offer a competitive rate of pay.

Experience having worked on site before is essential to this role.

Daily responsibilities for the successful labourer will include:

– Keeping the site tidy

– Taking in deliveries

– Assisting tradespeople

– Unloading building supplies

– Maintaining all safety standards

The labourer will need the right attitude and attention to detail to help deliver the project from start to finish at the highest level.

Requirements for the role

The successful CSCS labourer will need full personal protective equipment (steel toe cap boots, hi-vis, and a hard hat), and to be able to provide a reference proving experience having done a similar job.

McGinley are currently looking for all levels of Safety Critical PTS Staff to join us on a long term contract running from Paddington – Maidenhead.

Midweeks and Weekend shifts available and start date is still to be confirmed but it will be within the next few weeks.

– Site Warden

– PTS Trackman

You must already hold PTS to apply and ideally hold one of more other tickets. We are more than happy to put our staff through training to up skill them and will be picking the best workers over the next few months to train into COSS’, Crane Controllers and ES’.

This work will be Inside IR35.
