Construction Manager – Externals

With this role you will be looking after the Externals/Envelope of the building. You will also be responsible for the roof and the Pent house.

Description And Requirements

The Project:

Is a Grade 1 & 2 listed building that is being transformed into high end residential apartments.

There will be a total of 42 units across 3 blocks. The project is valued at £92m.

The roof will be extended and turn into a penthouse and there will be a gym, spa and swimming pool built underground!

The project is stone’s throw away from London, Victoria station.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure any temporary works have the necessary design and are installed in accordance with the design.
  • Produce 2-week look ahead programmes for managers, operatives and sub-contractors working under you to ensure that the construction programme is achieved.
  • Ensure all operatives have signed a daily safe start, are inducted, have the relevant permit for their works, receive weekly toolbox talks and are working to the appropriate risk assessments and method statements.
  • Ensure the works are planned out in a logical manner paying attention to materials storage, deliveries, plant and traffic movements, craneage and any other site logistics.
  • Management of plant to ensure it is ordered in advance, used efficiently, tracked while on site and off hired when no longer required.
  • Manage labour resources and ensure these do not exceed the labour forecast for the project.
  • Ensure all materials are taken off, ordered and delivered to site in advance of any works and in line with the construction programme.
  • Ensure all managers/engineers and sub-contractors are working to the latest construction issue information.
  • Liaise with the senior engineer on site to ensure that all setting out is done in appropriate time and its accuracy is checked.
  • Ensure all the relevant QA is completed by the engineers, as well as any sub-contractors working under you. Report to the PM any items raised with regards to QA and propose remedial actions
  • Hold weekly (as a minimum) progress meetings with the site team and subcontractors and report to the project manager on progress of works against programme.

We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 6 in Construction management or equivalent
  • CSCS black card (management level)
  • SMSTS
  • NHBC Standards
  • Knowledge of QA systems – Ideally Field view
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position with a main contractor

Our client is looking for an innovative Project Manager/Planner to lead on the delivery and project management of electrical transmission routing and substation siting projects for investor-owned utilities and independent transmission developers.

You’ll need to hold a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, planning, engineering or a related field, with extensive industry experience in a similar role. Overview of the position:

The position of Estimator supports the ongoing company growth plans for the division and is a very important role in achieving the companies long term growth targets.

The Estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client’s documents and provides complete conceptual and total bid price.

The role will involve communicating with and supporting the sales team and suppliers.

Strong communication skills and an attention to detail are required.

Further essential skills are the ability to review/understand construction drawings and documentation.

The candidate will have the ability to manage their own time, have work completed in a timely manner whilst working well under pressure. Enjoy being part of the team and take pride in achieving targets. While also have a strong technical knowledge with the ability to take on technical information quickly.

Full product training will be provided.

Estimator Responsibilities:

  • Be part of the estimating team operating in an efficient manner and deliver estimates and technical supporting documents in a timely and organised manner
  • Preparation of Estimates/Quotations for all products within the company
  • Administration of the Tender/Estimating process
  • Analysis of pre- tender documentation including Specifications, Architectural Drawings, Bill of Quantities and Contract Documents
  • Dealing with the company’s supply chain partners in the course of preparing estimates and tenders
  • Analysis of prices from the company’s suppliers
  • Presentation of entire cost build-up of estimates for margin agreement
  • Submission of estimates and tenders to the company’s customers
  • Compiling and presentation of Technical Submittals for the various projects
  • Attending presentations and meetings as required from time to time

Estimator Requirements:

  • Attention to Detail
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Analysing technical Information
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings
  • Strong time management skills
