Location: Birmingham or Basingstoke where you will be based out of our either office with home working available and some travel to other offices and sites

We are now recruiting for a Technology Senior Design Engineer to join our Highways team in Birmingham or Basingstoke to act as a trusted advisor and advocate to the business in respects to engineering and design solutions, highlighting possible efficiency and innovations to analyse problems and develop workable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

The overall purpose of the role is to lead the development of engineering & design solutions for a wide array of ITS projects to be delivered for several different clients, following a defined governance, assurances frameworks, processes and procedures in a timely manner to facilitate a right first-time approach. Issues shall be proactively highlighted to the Engineering Assurance Manager. The Senior Engineer with their team shall also fully assess all project life cycle stages, including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design through to implementation and commissioning, supporting the development of a balanced set of requirements which is compatible with the overall level of risk and budget. Identify and delegate scheme specific work and tasks to the project team to maximise efficient and appropriate staff levels throughout the design lifecycle, providing day to day supervision and monitoring

What do we need from you?

  • Degree or equivalent qualification within a technology bias engineering discipline e.g. communications, electronic/electrical engineering
  • Industry knowledge, experience and understanding essential; specifically relating to highways technology infrastructure and National Highways
  • Proven track record of successful service delivery, operational, design, and delivery of highways technology infrastructure projects; with knowledge of operational maintenance, construction and site experience being key
  • Effective and confident communication, professional in approach and presentation, with the ability to build relationships and interact well with business and client stakeholders at all levels
  • Possession of multiple practical skillsets across the HE technology and infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of ITS, IoT, Telco, and IP technologies and their applications against the services Kier Services | Highways supplies
  • Full UK Driving licence and ability to travel / overnight stays when required
