We have an opportunity within the Palace operations division for a maintenance operative. You will be part of the team responsible for general maintenance at the Palace, making sure that we have a safe, well-maintained and welcoming environment for all users and visitors to the Palace. This is an interesting and varied role that requires a strong team player.

Flexibility is essential as you will be required to work as part of a 7-day rota to ensure the business always has maintenance support, especially at our busiest times which include weekends and public holidays. Occasionally you will be required to work evenings or outside your normal hours in support of an event or function.

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Carrying out general maintenance work and compliance checks as directed by the Clerk of Works.
  • Carrying out daily health and safety checks, meter readings, minor building repairs and maintenance.
  • Liaising on day-to-day issues and breakdowns of the site.
  • Responding to the maintenance needs of the Palace.
  • Helping with day-to-day duties working alongside the existing team.

What we are looking for:

Ideally, you will have experience in a general building maintenance role and have a flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude to work. Also required:

  • Basic building skills are all regarded as beneficial but not essential.
  • Manual handling capability.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team-player, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Full clean UK Driving Licence.
