Brickwork – Construction Lead

Our client delivers high quality vocational training and higher education courses. The College’s students are at the heart of what they do, and their priority is to prepare all their learners for their future.

Our client currently has an exciting opportunity to join them on a permanent basis as a Construction Lead for Brickwork starting as soon as possible.

Role responsibilities
Planning and delivering Brickwork up to level 3
Motivating students to excel in their subject area

The person & qualifications
Have a minimum of a L3 in Brickwork
Recent experience of teaching
Must be enthusiastic and inspiring to learners
Must have an enhanced DBS on the update service or within 12 months (or be willing to apply for one)

They are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their talented team. This represents an excellent opportunity to work for one of the region’s premier construction consultancies on a diverse array of high-profile building projects.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates, valuations, and final accounts for construction projects
  • Conduct detailed measurement and valuation of works
  • Negotiate with contractors and subcontractors on pricing and contractual matters
  • Prepare and analyze tender documentation
  • Manage sub-contractor accounts and final accounts
  • Provide advice to clients on procurement strategies, contracts, and cost management
  • Liaise with project teams including architects, engineers, contractors and clients
  • Experience as an Employer’s Agent on projects would be an advantage

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, working on building projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, regulations and best practices
  • Expertise across the project lifecycle including pre and post-contract phases
  • Experience working with JCT, NEC and bespoke forms of contract
  • Excellent analytical, communication and client presentation skills

Responsibilities:

  • Impeccable customer service to our customers
  • Audits of managed Buildings and Common Parts to understand the building layout
  • Lease review, interpretation and management
  • Managing of service charges and budgets Answering telephones and fielding calls in a professional and efficient manager
  • Record creating and keeping, maintain all company records Organisation and co-ordination of marketing/mail shots etc.
  • Dealing with Client queries and requirements by telephone, letter/e-mail on own initiative
  • Liaising internally with relevant teams and colleagues to keep them informed of changes
  • Maintaining an ongoing list of “work in progress” and ensure developments are fully compliant Ensuring that Client files are up to date and stored in line with existing practice systems (training will be provided)
  • Creating new client files as required Attending site meetings, which may require you leaving home to be “on site” prior to normal working hours
  • Attending “Zoom meetings” with Clients where required, this may be required outside of normal office hours
  • Liaising with Residents Directors, Freeholders, Leaseholders and Tenants in a polite, professional manner at all times
  • Overseeing Section 20 Consultations, notices and works where required (training to be provided)
  • Appointing and overseeing contractors, ensuring work is carried out to a high standard
  • Approving invoices for payment on our system (training to be provided)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 year experience within a block management position
  • Full clean driving license
  • AIRPM (desirable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Employer’s Agent, administering construction contracts and ensuring compliance
