Kier Places are recruiting now for a Voids Supervisor to join our Housing Maintenance team to assist the Void Site Manager on void project works to properties & residential blocks across the Hammersmith & Fulham area, as part of our contract with London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF). Your role will be key to managing resources (people and physical assets) in order to implement the project plan for the assigned section safely, on time and to the required quality.

Key Responsibilities

As a Voids Supervisor with Kier Housing Maintenance, you will work closely & collaboratively to promote a positive health, safety & environmental (SHE) culture on projects; support the Voids Site Manager & Quantity Surveyor in achieving company objectives at a first-class standard; ensure project risks are identified & mitigated effectively; co-ordinate & manage staff, operatives, subcontractors and suppliers in an effective and controlled manner ensuring efficiency of the works and minimising cost.

We will also trust you to be responsible for providing information to the Quantity Surveyor to assist in the preparation of interim and final accounts and the identification of additional works; understand the project financial position at all times and contribute to forecasts; liaise and communicate with Design team, clients, resident groups and outside bodies as required and attend meetings as necessary; and assist the Voids Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor in the formulation of contractual strategies relating to projects, and then ensure that such strategies are implemented.

What do we need from you?

The ideal Voids Supervisor will have relevant qualifications and experience relating to the Housing Maintenance & Repairs industry with experience in the social housing sector; have CSCS, SMSTS & First Aid at Work certification; solid understanding and knowledge of current health and safety procedures, requirements and legislation operating on a construction site.

Our Client is a manufacturer of wide ranges of tooling and component prepregs suitable for autoclave, press and oven curing. They are ideally placed to provide high quality products at short lead times together with excellent service and first class technical support.

Your Role:

In this role you will be responsible for the fabrication process and the design and build of manufactured machinery. This role will involve working in the workshop and on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with designers and other engineers to develop plans for manufacturing machinery.

  • Choosing the right materials for a project by considering factors such as strength, durability, cost and availability.

  • Designing the manufacturing process by determining the order of operations.

  • Ensure all products and machinery meet quality and safety standards.

  • Troubleshooting issues that occur during fabrication process.

  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in fabrication technology.

  • Always adhere to company Health & Safety procedures including external compliance such as COSHH.

  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.

Skills and Ability

  • Good understanding of English and Maths.

  • Basic Computer Skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Decision making.

  • Welding experience (MIG)

  • Full driving licence (essential)

  • CE/UK CA marking accreditation (preferable)

  • Working from engineering drawings and diagrams (essential)

  • Fabricating experience – 5 years (essential)

  • Proven track record of fitting bespoke equipment

  • Experience in machine manufacturing – 5 years (essential)

  • Experience with motors, gearboxes, rollers and bearings – 5 years (essential)

  • The ability to work within a team and encourage continual improvement for all team members.

  • Clear and effective communicator and able to work in a small team.

  • Forklift truck licence (preferable)

  • Able to carry out manufacture to engineering tolerances of a high standard and specification.

  • Ability to perform physical work for extended periods of time.

  • Possible weekend work and overtime required.

  • Ability to frequently bend, lift and reach.

  • Ability to lift items up to 25kg.

  • Ability to frequently push and pull items up to 47kg using lifting equipment.

Salary: – £60,000 – £65,000 basic + Car or Allowance + Package

Role Description

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a Tier 1 contractor who is leading a Pipeline upgrade across the West Midlands/South Wales region. Taking on the Civil Engineering responsibility from Lifting and temporary works and advising the site teams.

This is a mobile role working between home and site, providing Civil engineering expertise, not running a site or being a delivery Project Manager on site. Working alongside the Project Managers, and overseeing the Civil Engineering works as they come up in a programme. Your role will be to ensure the risk is managed and documentation and permits are correctly obtained and correctly delivered.

For example, samples of work could include lifting operations for a large pipelines being installed, Temporary works for excavations, Demolition of existing RC structures for the pipework etc..

You may have 3 – 4 sites needing your support at any one time, hence the flexible working depending on what’s required. Managing your diary between home-based technical support, stakeholder meetings and site progress reports.

Technical assurance and understanding Civil Engineering works around Utilities is key from trenches to deep excavations of existing infrastructure. As the area may not be commutable you must be free to be able to lodge away if required for a night. Depending on the programme you may be required on-site to oversee a specific package of works.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Qualified to HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Lifting operations & Temporary works experience on groundworks/Pipelines
  • Full driving licence
